Although a latter-day piece, this stand is an example of the 'Atomic' period that influenced design and architecture during the mid to late 1950s and is exemplified by the Eames ‘Hang it all’ , George Nelson's Atomic clock in America and Andre Waterkeyn's Atomium building designed and built for the Brussels 1958 International Exposition.
